Salt has been used not only as a seasoning and preservative but also as a therapeutic agent in traditional medicine systems across cultures. Bamboo salt, known as Jukyeom, is a traditional East Asian medicinal salt developed by Buddhist monk Jinpyo Yulsa. Buddhist priests have been primarily responsible for its production and use as a folk remedy. It is also used in cosmetics and traditional remedies for conditions such as dental plaque, gastritis, skin issues, and circulatory disorders. Our aim for study the preparation of bamboo salt using rock salt, nutritional value and evaluate the biological activity. It is made by filling bamboo stalks with sea salt, sealing them with red clay, and roasting them at high temperatures (1000–2000°C) using wood fires up to nine times. Bamboo salt shows the good result in 9X salt compared to 1X,3X and 6X bamboo salt. In anti-diabetic activity 6X and 9X bamboo salts showed strong α-amylase inhibition, helping manage postprandial hyperglycaemia. Anti –oxidant activity increase ith baking; 9X salt had the highest DPPH scavenging activity, reducing oxidative stress. In anti anti-anthelmintic activity 9X bamboo salt showed superior deworming effect, even better than standard Albendazole at higher doses. In anti-cancer activity 9X salt showed the strongest cytotoxicity against adenocarcinoma cells in MTT assay indicating anticancer potential. The baboo salt consist rich minerals like Zn, Cu, P, Si, and free from toxic Cd, boosting its nutritional and therapeutic value. By FTIR it Confirmed the presence of bioactive groups like hydroxyls, carboxylic acids, and polysaccharides. In GCMS the four major bioactive compounds with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer roles:2-Chloroethyl linoleate, Trans-2-methyl-4-N-butylthiane, S,S-dioxide, (Z)6, (Z)9-Pentadecadien-1-ol and 3-Methyl-2-(2-oxopropyl)furan. All four compounds responsible for show the functional and medicinal properties of bamboo salt, especially in the tests done of antioxidant, enzyme inhibition, anti-parasitic activity, and anticancer effects. These findings validate the traditional use of bamboo salt in traditional medicine and support its potential for broader health and wellness applications globally.
