Henry S. R. Kao, Ph.D. is Professor Emeritus at The University of Hong Kong. His academic work has focused on psychology, human behavior, and the scientific study of Chinese calligraphy as a vehicle for health promotion and therapeutic intervention. Over several decades, he has contributed to the development of calligraphy psychology and calligraphy therapy through interdisciplinary research integrating psychology, physiology, cognitive science, and neuroscience. His work has helped bring Chinese calligraphy into international scholarly discussion as both a cultural tradition and a field of scientific inquiry related to healing, rehabilitation, and human.
